Business Areas - Supply Chain "Operations" within Black & Decker is a truly global organisation in which our Europe, Middle East and African division (EMEA), forms a vital part.We cover areas from inventory management and sourcing from manufacturing, through to the supply of product to our customers. In today’s competitive environment, our Supply Chain has a critical role in meeting and exceeding our customers’ expectations and driving forward business growth. We must be flexible and adapt to different and ever-changing commercial environments and realities. Key areas of our Operations Function are: Distribution Our main European Distribution Centres exist in the UK and Belgium - serving our customers and three forward stocking locations. |
The teams support customer service levels and manage changing and sometimes conflicting priorities on our inbound supplies. Our distribution strategy is drive for improved performance and practices, maximising inventory placement throughout our whole distribution network and drive for improved customer service. Customer Service Customer Service Teams exist in all of our major markets covering local and regional customers. They importantly build and maintain good relationships - ascertaining company beneficial information and controlling new demand and service levels to our customers. Demand Planning Demand planners are based in all of our key markets. They work with our commercial teams and key customers to provide a business forecast that drives the rest of the Supply Chain. |
Multi-level internal and external collaboration is vital in this role. Supply Operations Based in the UK, this team’s major function is to manage the supply of products from our various supply and manufacturing sites around the world into our main distribution centres in Europe and Middle East - maximising our customer service and minimising our inventory investment. They collaborate with our EMEA markets and central marketing teams, whilst having a global responsibility to manage supply from shared resources with our North American, Latin American and Asia originations. Transportation We employ a variety of transportation methods that suit our diverse customer requirements, meet our need for flexibility, whist minimising costs. Innovative thinking is key here. |
