A Week in the life of...

Alison worked as a Field Marketing Executive (FME) for a year covering 100 stores within West Midlands territory spanning Shrewsbury through to Swindon.

Me
I started working on the Field Marketing Team within Black & Decker soon after graduating with a Marketing Management Degree. I had no experience and limited knowledge of Power Tools. However, I knew that Black & Decker was a global and well respected brand with excellent career opportunities.

My role
The main role of the FME is to maintain and increase sell out within major Power Tool retailers through a number of ways:

- Ensuring stock levels are sufficient in store and attempting to gain secondary locations
- Organising and displaying store merchandise
- Providing staff training on Black & Decker products featured in store
- Providing Customer Demonstrations to help create and increase product awareness
All the above is achieved through building strong working relationships with the accounts you are responsible for.

The FME role is varied and flexible and I like the responsibility of managing my own time and territory. The team consists of 10 people and we support each other on a daily basis.

If you are looking for a role that gives you a challenge and great responsibility to organise your own diary and manage your territory, a role which gives you the freedom to be creative and follow through ideas and gain a great understanding of in store merchandising and sales at retail level, then the FME role is for you!

My career
I was promoted to Assistant National Account Manager after a year of working on the Merchandising team. I believe that the FME role has provided me with an excellent grounding for a prosperous career in Sales and Marketing within a global manufacturer of quality power tools, accessories and home improvement products.
