Animal Care Technician – Farm Animals (Including Donkeys)
About the Role
Are you passionate about animal welfare and looking to make a real difference? Shaftesbury Millie College is seeking a dedicated Animal Care Technician to join our team, working primarily with a variety of farm animals—including donkeys, goats and sheep. You’ll play a vital role in supporting our educational and therapeutic programs, ensuring the highest standards of care and wellbeing for our animals.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out daily care routines for all farm animals, including feeding, cleaning, and health monitoring.
Assist with veterinary visits and maintain hygiene standards across the animal provision.
Prepare animals for educational and therapeutic sessions, supporting students (including those with special needs).
Ensure compliance with licensing regulations and maintain accurate records.
Work as part of a rota to provide consistent care, including some weekend and holiday cover.
What We’re Looking For
Enthusiastic, self-motivated, and empathetic individuals with a genuine passion for animal welfare.
Calm and adaptable approach, able to manage multiple priorities.
Experience working with farm animals, and equines/ donkeys, is highly desirable.
Commitment to safety, compliance, and excellence in animal care.
Ability to work collaboratively within a team of staff and volunteers.
An interest in the delivery of animal assisted therapy
