Based in Newport, and Swansea 37 hours per week

What will you do?

Support the Financial Controller – Reporting & Compliance in the production of monthly Group accounts and annual financial statements in line with agreed timescales along with all matters associated with compliance.

Duties include:

  • To provide an effective and timely financial and management reporting service to internal and external users across the group

  • Supporting the Financial Controller – Reporting & Compliance with the preparation of the financial statements and the day to day management of the year-end external audit for the Pobl Group, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and SORP’s

  • Ensuring all statutory and regulatory returns are correctly completed on time

  • Ensuring changes to accounting standards are correctly adopted across the group

  • Assist the Financial Controller – Reporting and Compliance with the production of monthly Group accounts

  • Assist the Financial Controller – Reporting & Compliance in the production of finance related Board / Committee papers where necessary

  • Prepare information for audit within agreed timescales

  • Responsible for ensuring that service charges are correctly accounted for

  • Oversee the correct completion and submissions of the Groups VAT returns

  • Assisting with the completion of the Group annual tax returns

  • Ensure you keep up to date with accounting and taxation regulations through continuous professional development including attendance at appropriate training courses and conferences

  • Ensuring all control accounts are reconciled monthly

  • Completion of all relevant returns to statutory bodies

  • Overseeing the production of all pension returns and reconciliations ensuring compliance to scheme rules

  • Ensure all inter-company balances are processed and reconciled at the end of each month

  • Ensure all journal entries are correctly posted to the nominal ledger

  • Ensure procedures across the team are accurately recorded and updated and are compliant with the financial regulations of the group

  • Carry out ad-hoc projects as requested

  • Responsible for the management, maintenance and development of the finance teams systems

  • Central costs – produce month end reports for central cost centres along with forecasts and annual budgets

  • Liaise with central budget holders for the production of budgets and forecast

  • Assist the Executive Director – Finance and Procurement and the Finance Director with ad hoc projects as required

    Experience of providing a financial accounting service

  • Excellent numeracy skills
