Job Reference : 002343
Closing Date : 08/12/2017
Salary : £14,842 - £15,213 pro rata
Department : Support Services - West
Hours Per week : 16

Ty Cornel is supported housing for 3 young males between the ages of 16-25 years old up to 2 years and is a house based in Haverfordwest. It has a team of support assistants and workers available to offer advice and guidance to the young men. It offers them the opportunity to gain support and encouragement to learn the necessary skills, to be able to live independently, such as managing money, maintaining a tenancy and the general day to day running of a home.

It is a successful collaboration between Pembrokeshire County Council and Gwalia Care and support. The aim of the scheme is to support the young men through this transition period; education and training play a vital role here, helping the young men learn the skills needed to allow them to succeed in the future.

What does the role involve?

A Support Assistant is an exciting role that focusses on clients’ individual needs and aspirations – what we call a person centred approach. No two days will be the same; you will need to be comfortable with variety, problem solving and change and be non-judgemental, have personal resilience, and be able to stay calm under pressure. You will help them find the key that unlocks their potential so that they can live to the full.

What is expected from you?

The most important thing you need is to have the right attitude and believe that everyone can achieve great things, given the right skills, assistance, choices and opportunities. You don’t need any specific qualifications or experience, but you must have the commitment to on-going learning and development as well as gaining a qualification.

Being a car driver is essential.
