Fixed Term for One Year
About us
The Local Government Association works to promote and improve local government, shaping national policy on behalf of councils. We are a politically led, cross-party organisation that works on behalf of councils to ensure local government has a strong, credible voice with national government. We aim to influence and set the political agenda on the issues that matter to councils, so they are able to deliver local solutions to national problems.
The role
The LGA’s leadership, which brings together politicians from across the political spectrum, is placing a renewed emphasis on equalities, diversity and inclusion. Based in the policy team, you will strengthen connections across all of our work – from health
and social care to economy and environment - to ensure that both national and local policy effectively drives improved equality outcomes and councils have effective knowledge to lead their diverse communities.
The coronavirus pandemic has not impacted all people and communities equally. You will draw on your established relationships with government, partners and stakeholders to promote the effective use of both data and community engagement to ensure that these inequalities are understood and addressed, and that councils are able to take an informed and inclusive approach to social and economic recovery.
The requirements
You will be comfortable working on complex and challenging issues in a political environment, facilitating difficult conversations and establishing consensus. You will work across local government to further strengthen councils’ efforts to eliminate unlawful discrimination, advance equality of opportunity and foster good relations.
You must have the right to work in the UK, the LGA are unfortunately unable to offer sponsorship visas. Evidence for the right to work in the UK will be requested at the interview stage.
Closing Date: 5pm, Friday 7 May 2021
Interview Date: W/C Monday 10 May 2021, interviews will be held remotely
As a Disability Confident Leader, the LGA values diversity and encourages applications from all sections of the community
