About us
The Local Government Association works to promote and improve local government, shaping national policy on behalf of councils. We are a politically led, cross-party organisation that works on behalf of councils to ensure local government has a strong, credible voice with national government. We aim to influence and set the political agenda on the issues that matter to councils, so they are able to deliver local solutions to national problems.
The role
Based in the LGA’s policy team you will help to deliver our work on reshaping financial support and strengthening local welfare provision. Drawing on your knowledge and relationships, you will work to ensure that national and local policy recognises and
improves councils’ role in providing a local safety net. You will help councils and their partners to prevent hardship and alleviate crisis throughout people’s lives, particularly at points of crisis, change and transition.
The coronavirus pandemic has not impacted on all people and communities equally. You will draw on your knowledge of vulnerable communities and disadvantaged households to work with government, councils and partners to ensure the effective use of data to understand vulnerability and improve early intervention as we move into recovery.
The requirements
You will be confident working in a challenging political environment and will be able to engage with national programmes including Supporting Families and the Holiday Activities and Food programme, helping the sector’s ambitions to improving outcomes and reducing inequality.
You must have the right to work in the UK, the LGA are unfortunately unable to offer sponsorship visas. Evidence for the right to work in the UK will be requested at the interview stage.
Closing Date: 5pm, Friday 7 May 2021
Interview Date: W/C Monday 10 May 2021, interviews will be held remotely.
As a Disability Confident Leader the LGA values diversity and encourages applications from all sections of the community
