The role

Do you have a passion for public affairs? Are you looking for a role working in a successful public affairs team? If so, we are seeking a highly motivated Public Affairs Support Officer to assist the Local Government Association’s (LGA) Public Affairs and Stakeholder Engagement team in its work with parliamentarians and stakeholders. This is the ideal opportunity for you to progress your public affairs career by joining a team that works closely with Parliament.

As we encourage flexible working at the LGA, we are happy to discuss the option of a home-based contract. The salary for a home-based worker is from £27,741 pa or office-based from £31,453 pa (including London Weighting). The office-based working will be in line with our transitional flexible working policy as we begin to go back into the office again following COVID-19.

The requirements

This position is based in our communications directorate. The successful candidate will provide support to the team in its work influencing parliamentary debates, select committees and legislation, helping deliver briefing materials for relevant parliamentary and campaign engagement.  The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a keen interest in politics and current affairs. You will be highly organised, an enthusiastic team player and comfortable working to tight deadlines.
