The LGA is the national voice of local government. We work with councils to support, promote and improve local government.

We are looking for an experienced, highly competent administrative and project support person to work with our Children’s Improvement team. The Children’s Improvement Programme works to support children’s services in councils. It includes the delivery of a range of ‘peer reviews’ in local authorities across the country, and has recently secured funding from the Department for Education to deliver additional support.
The successful applicant will need to be highly organised with the ability to plan and deliver a varied workload. This will include planning and preparing meetings and events. You will be able to work pro-actively, demonstrating initiative across multiple projects at a time. You will be a team player and be flexible in approach.

As a key point of contact, you will have excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills, be able to confidently field queries, and liaise with senior officers, councillors, and service providers.

You will be required to provide financial administrative support, including raising orders and invoices and monitoring team budgets, as well as keeping project information and records up to date. You will need to understand and ensure corporate policies and processes are followed e.g. those around procurement. Attention to detail is essential.
