Social Work Together is about helping councils respond to the impact of coronavirus (COVID-19) on their workforce and communities.

You can click on the 'apply' button below to complete an expression of interest to be matched with returning social workers in your area.

What is Social Work Together?

Social Work England has issued an urgent appeal to bring social workers back to the frontline to support the local response to coronavirus (COVID-19). So far, there has been a very positive response.

A temporary register of returning professionals is now live, paving the way for people to return to practice during this national emergency to support individuals and local communities in great need.

In partnership with Social Work England, the Department for Education and the Department of Health and Social Care, the Local Government Association is delighted to provide a platform to connect social workers offering their expertise to local employers.

Who can apply?

We recognise that there has never been a more important time for social workers to return to practice and support their local communities.

If you’re a council in need of further support, we invite you to register for immediate access to our online tool, which will help you find social workers ready to return to work in your area. You will be able to review the skills and locations of our candidates and get in touch with them directly to discuss employment opportunities, including wider care roles where you have an urgent need. In your follow-up conversations with candidates, you will be able to assess their motivation for supporting the campaign and discuss their suitability for the roles you have available.

For every council that registers, a set of login details will be provided after you have applied which can be used on a continual basis.
