Role Category - the way you'll work:

This role is categorised as a roam role. Roaming roles are a mixture of home and hub working with, in some instances, a degree of being out and about delivering services to customers. Your working day will be determined by what you need to do and where you need to go to maximise your productivity. This means that you could start and finish your day in different places depending on what you need to do, so we’ll support you working from a variety of locations. 

The Role:

As the Surveying Services Manager you’ll play a pivotal role in effectively managing and delivering exceptional customer-focused operational performance of all surveying activities as part of the Asset Services team.  

Reporting to the Head of Asset Services, you’ll act as our Senior Surveyor providing expert knowledge, and be responsible for the output, content and quality of a strong team of Surveyors who work collaboratively to deliver an exceptional service. 

While effectively managing a team, you’ll lead by example carrying out inspections, defect diagnosis and prepare specifications of works, major structural repairs through to completion, damp and mould, adaptations, customer alterations and emergency activities i.e., fire, flood, collision etc. You’ll be highly organised, disciplined, and flexible; approximately half of your time will be spent on site so your days will be varied and interesting.

You’ll actively contribute to the strategic direction of the Surveying team, act as final approving authority for technical reports in line with professional guidelines and support the development of the Asset Management framework through technical trials and development.  

The Person:

We’re looking for someone who is highly motivated, professionally qualified and experienced building surveyor, either currently in a managerial role or ready to take the next step. 

With a good understanding of CDM, health and safety, planning and building regulations you’ll also have substantial technical surveying experience with a wide range of building types, be excellent at managing workload, possess exceptional internal / external communication skills and be capable of building and developing strong relationships.
You’ll have the initiative to hit the ground running. The work pace is fast, and a methodical approach and strong problem-solving skills are essential to maximise effectiveness in the role. ​​​​​​​
