Job Description

To maintain a fully effective Emergency Fire and Rescue Service in order to save life and to protect property in line with company standards and licensing requirements

Principle accountabilities

Emergency Response

  • Respond to emergency situations in full compliance with established regulations, procedures, and best practice to protect life and property.
  • Mobilise all necessary resources efficiently and effectively when attending emergency incidents.
  • Support a coordinated and integrated emergency response through strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, representing the Airport Fire Service professionally at all times.

Competency and Regulatory Compliance

  • Maintain all competencies required by both the regulator and the company to support airport licensing, certification, and operational standards.
  • Comply with all legal, statutory, and regulatory obligations relevant to the role.

Operational Readiness

  • Ensure all operational equipment is maintained to required standards, fully compliant with internal and external audit requirements, and ready for immediate deployment.
  • Support the effective implementation and adherence to company systems and procedures, including those introduced under Enterprise or other corporate frameworks.

Health, Safety and Environment

  • Promote, adopt, and uphold safe working practices at all times, ensuring the health, safety, and wellbeing of colleagues, customers, and the public.
  • Ensure personal and team compliance with all Company Health & Safety policies, proactively minimising risks across all operational and non-operational activities.

  • Participate in projects, working groups, and other initiatives that support operational development and organisational improvement.
  • Undertake additional duties beyond the standard remit when required, supporting both service needs and personal professional development.

Qualifications and experience

Essential

  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Meets and maintains all required medical and physical fitness standards, including UK Regulation (EU) 139/2014 and Company specific requirements.
  • Strong ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across the organisation and influence key stakeholders positively.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively at all levels.
  • Ability to work independently and use own initiative, demonstrating sound judgement and reliability.
  • Capable of performing effectively under pressure, remaining calm, focused, and professional in demanding or high risk situations

Desirable

  • Certified First Aider or FPOS qualified, or equivalent medical response training.
  • LGV (Large Goods Vehicle) licence holder.
  • Experience working within airport operations or similar high risk, safety critical environments.
