Role Overview

Reporting to the Glasgow Finance Manager, the purpose of this role is to assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts and ensure the integrity of the Profit and Loss Account and Balance Sheet for Glasgow Airport.
The Finance Analyst will provide accurate, detailed and timely management information and analytical support to the Glasgow Finance team, Group Finance and stakeholders.
They will also own and manage the Glasgow fixed asset system and ensure reconciling to the general ledger.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process journals and accruals at the month end, implement internal checks and controls and ensure that the general ledger closes accurately and on time
  • Provide detailed and high quality management information, analysis and support as required
  • Prepare and carry out analytical review of the balance sheet, own the reconciliation of balance sheet accounts
  • Complete accurate processing of all fixed asset transactions, ensure that fixed assets closes in line with the agreed period end timetable and maintain the integrity of the fixed asset register
  • Prepare fixed asset grids, accounts appendices and relevant reports
  • Pro-actively works with the Group Finance team as required, provide accurate information for the production of yearly statutory accounts and consolidated accounts
  • Monitor, analyse and report on revenue project expenditure
  • Upload budget and reforecast figures into the financial accounts system
  • Prepare and complete National Statistic Office surveys

Qualifications and Experience


  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in similar financial analyst role
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to effectively problem solve and follow through to resolution
  • Working knowledge of accounting and capital accounting processes
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems, particularly General Ledger
  • High level of working knowledge of MS Office applications, in particular Excel
  • Excellent communication skills – written and oral
  • Experience of effectively communicating to and interacting with colleagues at all levels, including senior managers
  • Ability to effectively organise work and perform well under pressure with minimal supervision
  • Experience in working and delivering to tight month end timetables
  • Highly motivated and invested in self-learning with capability to support the Finance Manager and wider finance team in complex tasks and project work
  • Ability to identify continuous improvement opportunities and effectively implement change
