Level 4 - Internal Audit Practitioner
About the role & responsibilities
As an Apprentice Internal Audit Practitioner, you’ll undertake a Level 4 Internal Audit Practitioner Apprenticeship whilst supporting our Compliance Team’s day-to-day operations at Bailie Group Business Services. The Compliance Team will ensure you’re fully supported with day-to-day responsibilities, they’ve developed a formalised internal training programme to help develop your skills & knowledge.
You’ll learn the ins and outs of ISO* standards and help carry out essential tasks set by the wider Compliance Team, providing key administration support.
Day-to-day you’ll assist with…
- Internal audit planning, report writing and logging actions onto the Corrective Action Log
- External audit activities.
- Supplier management (One Trust).
- Corrective action activities i.e., logging actions, monitoring and expediting actions.
- Assisting the Compliance Manager on various operational matters and projects.
- Administrative and clerical support to the Compliance team when required.

What does the Bailie Group Compliance Team do?
- We ensure that our ISO and Cyber Essentials certifications stay intact
- We ensure that we have no single points of failures
- We identify risk and help mitigate them
- The business creates objectives, and we ensure that we stay on track to complete them
- We put plans and roadmaps in place to help the business
- We identify and resolve issues and complaints
- We ensure that we follow legislations and laws
We aim to improve operational efficiency and safety, whilst reducing risks, costs and improving Bailie Group’s reputation. We report to the Bailie Group’s Senior Management Team on all matters relating to compliance. The team is based at our Leeds office, close by to Leeds Train Station.
Each member of the Compliance Team is allocated their own portfolio of responsibilities from the shared job description, and there are opportunities to gain experience in a range of activities to develop your career in compliance.
Candidate profile
We are looking for an organised, motivated, and proactive individual with budding administrative skills to join our team of Compliance experts. This position plays a key role in supporting the Compliance Team’s day-to-day responsibilities, so attention to detail and communication is key!
The successful candidate will be expected, over time, to form strong working relationships with key stakeholders across the Operating Companies (CDS, CDS Defence & Security, Bailie Group Business Services and Newspress) and support the Compliance Team in maintaining an effective operation.
If you have knowledge and experience of business management frameworks within further or higher education, or an equivalent organisation, this could also be the ideal steppingstone for you!

Qualifications and experience
- A minimum of 5 GCSE or equivalent qualifications including maths and English – level 4 (C) or above
- Good understanding able to use MS Office or equivalent packages
- Excellent team player with initiative to be self-reliant

Due to the nature of the business and the clients that we service, background checks may be required due to the work that will be undertaken within the role.
