Salary: £26,403 - £27,694 per annum (plus up to £3,900.00 per year, pro rata, in contractual overtime and enhancements).

Full-time and part-time positions considered.

What You’ll Do:

As a Civil Enforcement Officer (CEO), you will be a visible and approachable presence in the community. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Patrolling streets and car parks to ensure vehicles follow parking regulations.
  • Issuing Penalty Charge Notices to vehicles parked in contravention.
  • Educating and advising the public on where and how they can park safely, offering clear guidance on parking restrictions.
  • Reporting suspected abandoned vehicles, damaged signs or street infrastructure so issues can be addressed quickly.
  • Supporting residents, visitors and businesses by answering queries in a professional, friendly manner.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues across Parking Services and Enforcement & Operations to help maintain safe, accessible streets.

What We’re Looking For:

We’re seeking someone who:

  • Has excellent customer service skills and can engage confidently and respectfully with the public, including in challenging situations.
  • Enjoys working outdoors in all weather conditions, patrolling independently while also contributing to a wider team.
  • Can remain calm, polite and professional, even when dealing with difficult or confrontational situations.
  • Has strong observational skills and attention to detail when recording information or identifying contraventions.
  • Is confident using digital tools and handheld devices to maintain accurate electronic records.
  • Understands (or is willing to learn) key regulations such as the Traffic Management Act 2004, local Traffic Regulation Orders and relevant enforcement procedures.
  • Physically fit and be able to walk as much as 10 miles per day whilst carrying approximately 8lb/4kg of equipment and be prepared to work in all weathers.
  • Holds a full UK driving licence.

Working Hours:

Full‑time positions cover 40 hours per week (37 hours plus 3 contractual overtime). Shifts operate on a rota between 6am and 10pm, including weekends, from a central Bath location. Additional overtime and shift allowances apply.
