Bath and North-East Somerset Council (B&NES) is looking to recruit a skilled Communications & Marketing Officer to work within the Business & Skills Team.
These are exciting and transformative times in B&NES, with a recently adopted B&NES Economic Strategy and Business & Skills plan providing the blueprint for sustainable economic growth and the creation of good work opportunities in the authority area. This role will support the Business & Skills Team’s aims in engaging businesses, residents, stakeholders and investors to further our reach and impact.
The role itself consists of a variety of activities including management of existing brands, including Invest in B&NES, Achieve in B&NES and Bath Unlimited, as well as websites, social media accounts and newsletters. The postholder would also support delivery of events, creation of content, production of marketing materials and responding to enquiries.
The postholder would be expected to:
- Be the primary point of contact for marketing and communications for the Business & Skills Team, supporting projects with content to help achieve targets
- Manage our online social media and newsletter accounts increasing engagement and follower counts
- Utilise additional marketing channels/mix to reach new audiences where necessary
- Create logos, presentations, images and video content in support of team activities
- Represent the team at key marketing meetings, both with our internal communications team and with organisations such as Bath Unlimited
The following skills, knowledge and experience are desirable:
- Skills in creating and editing imagery and videos to support marketing campaigns
- Experience of successfully managing websites, social media and newsletter accounts
- Strong experience and competency in creating digital content, using both primary and secondary materials, and a range of software packages
- Applicants will have the authority and credibility to build relationships and engage successfully with relevant colleagues, external organisations and our residents and businesses
- Applicants will need to have excellent written and verbal communication skills
