Job Description

At Bath & North East Somerset Council we have one overriding purpose – to improve people’s lives.

Play a key role in delivering highways that support great places to live, work and travel.

This is a fantastic opportunity to take a leading role in managing highway agreements for development‑led infrastructure within one of England’s most beautiful unitary authorities. You will have real day‑to‑day influence over S38 and S278 schemes, working at the heart of major regeneration projects in our UNESCO World Heritage City, beautiful market towns and villages.

As the successful candidate you will have significant technical engineering knowledge and skills to allow you to undertake design checks of third party submissions, a keen focus on compliance and experience of negotiating highway adoption legal agreements. You will have a track record of implementing successful quality assurance processes and working collaboratively with others to ensure critical standards are met. You’ll also have a strong customer ethos and excellent communication skills across a broad range of diverse groups.

We are seeking a motivated, well‑organised professional with strong technical expertise, excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach. The role offers the chance to secure long‑lasting highway and public realm improvements, support sustainable travel choices and contribute directly to ambitious local transport and climate objectives.

We offer flexible working arrangements and opportunities for professional development. If you are passionate about delivering positive, lasting change and want to influence how people move around, we would love to hear from you.
