Job Description
At Bath & North East Somerset Council we have one overriding purpose – to improve people’s lives.
The Roman Baths is one of the UK’s leading cultural and visitor‑attractions, welcoming around one million of visitors each year and generating substantial commercial income that supports essential local services.
We are looking for a Visitor Insights Analyst to join our busy Business Analysis Team. This is a pivotal role that turns data into strategic insight, helping us understand our audiences, improve the visitor experience, and strengthen commercial performance across admissions, retail, catering, venue hire and more.
If you are passionate about data, curious about audience behaviour, and excited by the idea of helping world‑class heritage attractions thrive, we’d love to hear from you.
About the role of Visitor Insights Analyst
As a Visitor Insights Analyst, you will help transform complex data into meaningful insight that guides strategic and operational decisions across Heritage Services. You will analyse visitor behaviour, commercial performance, CRM data, sentiment and external benchmarks, producing clear forecasts, reports and models that support audience development and income growth. Your work will play a vital role in shaping how our world‑class heritage attractions understand and respond to changing patterns in visitor demand.
You will work closely with teams across the service, presenting findings in a way that is accessible to non‑technical audiences and contributing to business planning, research projects and market analysis. The role is varied and collaborative, requiring you to manage multiple datasets, meet tight deadlines and occasionally deputise for the Senior Business Analyst. Your insights will ensure Heritage Services continues to make evidence‑based decisions that balance commercial priorities with audience needs.
About You
You will bring strong analytical skills, supported either by professional training or practical experience, and be confident working with large, complex datasets. Advanced Excel ability is essential, and experience with tools such as Power BI, SQL or CRM systems is an advantage. You are comfortable building models, interpreting data and combining financial and audience insights to produce well‑rounded, accurate analysis.
You will also be an effective communicator who can explain complex findings clearly to colleagues at all levels. Curious, organised and proactive, you thrive in a fast‑paced environment and enjoy working with others to solve problems and understand patterns in audience behaviour. An interest in the visitor‑attractions, cultural or heritage sector will help you bring valuable context to your work, supporting informed and strategic decision‑making.
