Job Description

At Bath & North East Somerset Council we have one overriding purpose – to improve people’s lives.

About the Fashion Museum Bath

Fashion Museum Bath will re-open its doors in the transformed, historic Old Post Office in Bath city centre in 2030.

Our vision is to champion fashion’s transformative power as a global industry and expression of creativity, culture and identity.

Our mission is to create a museum that brings fashion to life for local and global audiences, reshaping Bath for the future.

Fashion Museum Bath holds one of the world’s leading collections of fashion, spanning 400 years of human creativity, from 1600 to the present day. It is an exciting time for us as we undertake a major capital project to open a new 21st-century museum in the heart of the city, comprising dynamic galleries and community learning spaces showcasing and engaging with more of our extraordinary collection than ever before.

About the Role

We are seeking to appoint a Creative Health Manager (Learning & Engagement) to join the Fashion Museum Bath team. The main purpose of the job is to utilise the transformative power of fashion and our Collection to develop, manage, and grow the museum’s creative health and wellbeing programmes during the preponing phase. Supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, the post holder will work closely with B&NES Public Health Team to identify community health gaps and design evidence-based, creative, heritage-led interventions that support public health priorities. Including tackling inequalities, social isolation, educational attainment gap, mental health recovery, and age-related care.

This is 0.6 (3 days p/week) FTC this equates to 22.2 hours per week, fixed term contract for 4 years.

About You

You will have significant experience and a proven track record of co-producing and facilitating community-based creative programmes with vulnerable, marginalized, or healthcare-referred groups and/or individuals

You will have demonstrable experience building partnerships across the cultural, health, social care, or voluntary sectors

You will have demonstrable experience of hands-on experience managing the psychological safety, clinical risks, and interpersonal dynamics of individuals experiencing a range of health challenges

You will have a strong understanding of the Wider Determinants of Health (also known as the Building Blocks of Health) and the role of cultural capital in shaping inequalities. Understanding the importance of, and have strong commitment to, the social function of museums as inclusive and welcoming spaces, which positively impact the wider community and improve health and wellbeing

Our Values
