Job Description

Benenden Health is a leading UK not-for-profit healthcare provider committed to offering affordable private healthcare. As the Finance function and wider business continues to evolve and grow, we are looking for a qualified Financial Accountant to join the team.

Purpose

To support the Finance Manager and Financial Controller with the delivery of the Society's financial, tax and capital reporting, ensuring high quality, accurate and efficient delivery. This role provides opportunities for development to become the Society's technical accounting and tax expert.

The post holder will:

  • Ensure accurate and timely delivery of monthly and periodic financial reporting.
  • Preparation of annual Financial Statements for the Society and subsidiaries and liaising with auditors.
  • Calculate the Society’s capital requirement under a Solvency II methodology and produce the Society’s capital reporting.
  • Produce the quarterly VAT Return and support tax computations & general compliance.
  • Develop investment and treasury reporting including fund performance insights and returns tracking and regular cashflow and liquidity forecasting.
  • Support with the running of and reporting into the quarterly Executive Asset and Liability Committee (EALC).
  • Work co-operatively with Hospital finance colleagues to deliver efficient financial reporting and associated returns.
  • Maintain the integrity of the fixed assets register and ensure assets capitalised in line with accounting policy.
  • Develop to become the technical accounting expert in the team providing guidance on changes to standards or accounting for complex transactions.

Skills and Experience

  • Professional qualification (ACA, ACCA or equivalent).
  • Experience of working in either a large accounting firm or a Financial Accounting and Reporting team.
  • Production of external corporate financial reporting or auditing of large entity statutory accounts.
  • Strong Excel skills and knowledge (pivot tables, vlookups, sumifs).
  • Knowledge of relevant accounting standards.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy of financial reporting.
