The role:

  • Support Brand & Concept development, planning & implementation
  • Category Management – use insights to drive category strategy internally & externally

Key Responsibilities

  1. Brand & Concept Manager
  • Supporting brand planning & implementation for concepts (Flatstone, Stacked, Hudsons etc) working closely with Head of Marketing & Strategy and Retail Operations Manager
  • Supporting Sales process, enabling distribution growth in target sectors
  • Creation & implementation across packaging, POS, flyers, sales presentations
  • Drive range development with NPD manager based on insights as appropriate


  1. Category Management & Insights
  • Category reviews using internal 6 Stage Process- Savoury ongoing, Chilled, Bakery etc
  • Customer specific- using their sales data and market trends.  Product, merchandising, and operations reviewed
  • Category performance – monitor and report ongoing performance of categories
  • Create core, regional and bespoke planograms based on market and internal data
  • Planning & execution of account marketing plans (Nisa, Costcutter, Londis, Budgens)
  • Manage competitor intelligence monitoring

Market updates

  • Create quarterly market updates with supplier support
  • Organise internal trend/seasonal safaris
  • Use insight to drive category strategy and NPD funnel

Market mapping-

  • Point of contact for Market Location (supplier)
  • Organise screening questions and activity by Contact Centre

Promotions:

  • Planning for standard calendar, bespoke calendars and adhoc promotions
  • Manage at risk stock promotions
  • Manage seasonal/event loading deals 
  • Planning of coffee link calendars and approval via 3rd party

NPS-

  • Organise main NPS, plus equipment delivery, equipment repair and online questionnaires
  • Liaise with customer care for follow up
  • Communicate to business and drive actions


Category maintenance

  • Complete 6 monthly tail delist task. Communicate to business if necessary
  • Manage delists as determined by 6 Stage Review. 

Price increase

  • Monitoring of commodity and conversion costs
  • Create price list database- check against SAP and existing price list database
  • Support buying with decision making around % increases/decreases
  • Create and present deck (both internal and external)


  1.  PR Strategy & Planning
  • Main point of contact. Hold quarterly “Comms Meeting” to discuss upcoming launches and events to align marketing team and agencies
  • Drive content calendar and provide content where relevant – Digital & Traditional

Required skills and competencies:

The ideal candidate will be currently working in a Marketing function of an FMCG, Retail or Foodservice business.

More specifically:

The role is about enabling and driving category growth.

  • Marketing and Category background with a track record that generates significant incremental business.
  • Experienced in developing products & concepts offering clear points of difference and competitive advantage that is difficult to unravel by customers or mimic by competitors.
  • Commercially astute – good with data, financials, targeting, margins, supplier costings and so on.
  • Project management ‐ strong interpersonal skills with ability to manage cross‐functional teams. Able to juggle several projects and priorities.
  • Good presenter, succinct communicator, ‘emotionally intelligent’ – reads situations / meetings.
  • Experienced in stakeholder management.
  • Full conversant with Microsoft office suite, particularly Excel
