Head of Food Development - Fresh Direct Bicester

Scope of the Role

To develop, lead and execute a food development plan on behalf of Fresh Direct, ensuring that Fresh Direct & group opportunities are maximized to their fullest potential.
This is a customer facing role, ensuring customers stay ahead of the food development curve and positioning Fresh Direct as an innovative and forward thinking produce and dairy supplier.  Focused on driving commercially beneficial category improvements as well as developing a partnership approach with customers and owning the chef-to-chef relationship. Developing and presenting, proactive and reactive to brief ideas to the customer.

Key Responsibilities

Work in partnership with the procurement and sales functions to continually review and drive an improved commercial offer by category
The profitable development of our existing customer base through range amendments and listing of new added value product
Manage and put in place a development plan for the junior NPD team
Ensuring our customers view Fresh Direct as their strategic partner for developing their fresh offer
A proactive support for the new business team, demonstrating Fresh Directs vision and abilities in fresh development
Playing an integral part in the development of our range within the Fresh Direct and Fresh Kitchen businesses
Develop relationships with key food development / procurement stakeholders across the group to provide an efficient platform for driving new business

Key Attributes

Commercially aware and driven
Knowledge of fresh produce and seasonality 
Previous experience of working as a Development Chef
Knowledge of food production/ manufacturing
Understanding of the pricing/procurement of produce
Able to interact with all departments with Fresh direct when required.
Customer focused and solutions driven
Good communication and presentation skills, comfortable in front of the customer
Sector awareness
PC literate to facilitate customer presentations
