Walshaw Hall is in the idyllic countryside of nearby Tottington, a residential care home that accommodates up to 56 residents who are cared for around the clock by a team of talented and dedicated carers and support staff who are focussed on delivering the kindest possible care. Walshaw Hall provides dementia care, residential care and respite care on a short-term and long-term stay basis.

About the Role

We are looking for a dedicated Senior Care Assistant to join our friendly team at Walshaw Hall. This role offers 44 hours per week, working 12-hour night shifts from 8pm to 8am with unpaid breaks of 1 hour spread throughout the night.

As a Senior Care Assistant, you will bring previous care experience and a passion for supporting in a residential care setting. You will lead and inspire a team of Care Assistants to deliver exceptional, person-centred care to our residents enabling them to live well and comfortably.

Your responsibilities will include assisting residents with personal care, supporting their health and wellbeing through meaningful activities, administering medication, and maintaining accurate care records and care plans. This is a varied and rewarding role where your leadership and compassion will make a real difference every day.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reports to the Registered Manager.
  • Supervise care services in line with agreed standards.
  • Lead and support a team of Care Assistants to ensure high quality care is given to residents.
  • Undertake training to maintain up to date practices.
  • Monitor and provide high-quality, person-centred care and support to residents during night hours.
  • Support and assist with personal care (washing, dressing, and toileting)
  • Administer medication and maintain accurate care plans and records.
  • Respond to concerns in line with policies and procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and families to ensure the best outcomes for residents.
  • Promote dignity, independence, and wellbeing always
  • Ensure the care home remains clean, safe, and comfortable overnight

About You

  • Has previous experience working in care (essential)
  • Holds a minimum of a Level 2 Health & Social Care qualification with a view to complete a Level 3 qualification (essential)
  • Can manage accurate care records and planning.
  • Can lead, coach, and motivate a team to deliver high quality care.
  • Is kind, warm, and approachable.
  • Works well independently during nightshifts and as part of a team.
  • Has effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Is reliable and committed to high standards of care and personal care.
