Community Connector

£13.26 per hour rising to £13.47 after successful induction and probation
Fixed term until September 2028
Make a Real Difference in Your Local Community
Are you a natural connector - someone who listens deeply, brings people together, and loves to make things happen?
We’re looking for a Community Connector to help shape the future of ageing in Bury, with a focus on Radcliffe and Prestwich.
You'll be at the heart of our Ageing in Place Project, supporting people aged 50+ to share their experiences of growing older in their neighbourhood, and helping turn their insights into meaningful improvements.
This is your chance to influence change, amplify local voices, and co‑create healthier, happier places to live.
As our Community Connector, you will:
- Build relationships with residents aged 50+ in Radcliffe and Prestwich.
- Design and run engagement activities—group events, conversations, meet‑ups—to understand local experiences of ageing.
- Support residents to connect with each other, access local assets, and get involved in shaping their community.
- Facilitate get‑togethers, volunteering, peer support and other activities that bring people together.
- Feed local insights into an action plan for each neighbourhood.
- Support partners to deliver the plan and identify barriers, successes and new opportunities.
- Develop strong links with local partners—voluntary groups, health services, community organisations, local businesses and resident leaders.
- Support the Community Engagement Manager to co‑ordinate a local Ageing in Place Partnership Group.
- Help establish and operate a local ‘hub’ as a base for activities and engagement
About You
You are someone who:
- Builds relationships easily and is a confident communicator
- Listens deeply and respects diverse experiences
- Can motivate, inspire and encourage people to get involved
- Is creative, proactive and comfortable working independently
- Understands community engagement and co‑production approaches
- Has experience of partnership working, project delivery and engagement-focused roles
Your work will directly influence how people in Bury can age well - now and in the future. By understanding what works, what’s missing and what people care about most, you’ll help create places where everyone can thrive as they grow older.
If you’re passionate about people, community, and meaningful change, we’d love to hear from you
