About the Role

Bridge House are currently looking for two Senior Care Assistants to work nightshifts of 8pm-8am, 3-4 days per week.

The Senior Care Assistant (Nights) plays a key leadership role within the care home, supporting the delivery of safe, person‑centred, high‑quality care. Working alongside the management team, the Senior Care Assistant leads by example, oversees daily night care delivery, supports and mentors Care Assistants, and ensures residents’ physical, emotional and social needs are met. The role involves medication administration, care planning support, effective communication with families and professionals, and maintaining a warm, dignified environment where residents feel valued and respected.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support a team of care staff during night shifts, ensuring high standards of person‑centred care.
  • Administer, record and audit medication safely in line with organisational policy and regulatory requirements.
  • Contribute to care planning, risk assessments and daily documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Provide hands‑on personal care, emotional support and companionship to residents.
  • Act as a point of contact for residents, families and visiting professionals, promoting positive relationships.
  • Monitor residents’ wellbeing, reporting changes promptly and escalating concerns appropriately.
  • Support new staff through mentoring, shadowing and on‑shift coaching.
  • Ensure safeguarding principles are upheld and concerns are reported immediately.
  • Promote dignity, choice, independence and meaningful engagement throughout night time routines.
  • Assist with audits, handovers and daily operational tasks to support smooth running of the home.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment in line with infection control and health & safety standards.

About You

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Holds a Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) in Health & Social Care (essential)
  • Has previous experience in a Senior Care Assistant or Team Leader role. (essential)
  • Has experience supporting and completing care plans, risk assessments or quality audits.
  • Has a knowledge of CQC regulatory requirements and quality standards
  • Has awareness of dementia care, end‑of‑life care or any other specialist areas.
  • Is confident liaising with families, external professionals and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Shows strong mentoring or coaching skills to support staff.
  • Can contribute to continuous improvement, service development and wellbeing initiatives
  • Has a positive, proactive approach to problem‑solving and team leadership.
