An exciting new role has been created to lead the Production Show Operations department of the P&O Cruises and Cunard production studio, 'The Academy' in Southampton.
As a shore-based role, you will have responsibility for the wardrobe and technical department, rehearsals, and facilities of the building. You and your team of four will be instrumental in ensuring all production shows are delivered across both fleets for P&O Cruises and Cunard.
As an experienced leader and people manager, you will lead and manage the rehearsal schedules, working with Guest Experience colleagues on production roll outs, and ensuring effective management of production schedules end-to-end.
As Operations Manager of The Academy, the building and its facilities will also be under your remit in association with Carnival House facilities department, including main administration duties and overall running, inclusive of budget planning and ensuring all facilities are fit for purpose.
Your people management skills and experience in the world of entertainment will come to the fore as you work closely with your team of 4 to support individual team development, ensuring that all members understand the importance of their contribution to the overall business objectives. It goes without saying that as a strong and collaborative leader, you will develop your team through sharing knowledge, empowerment and best practice, attending training where required and providing structure and supporting with resourcing needs.
We take HESS seriously. You will be expected to lead by example taking care of the health and safety of you and others; reporting near misses, accidents and incidents, and work related ill health conditions with your line manager. This role will be key to our HESS commitments, as such it will be the appointed shore side risk assessor subject matter expert where you will need to review and approve ship risk assessments. You will of course also actively promote safe working within your team and encourage safe behaviours.
- As an individual with experience in numbers, this role is responsible for setting the Academy budget in conjunction with the Production Show Manager and Finance Department.
- We are looking for a real superstar who has experience or training in Entertainment and/or technical theatre, it would be advantageous if you also possess project management experience.
- As a key role in the team, candidates with experience and understanding of a constantly evolving entertainment product, who have knowledge and/or experience of the holiday market may find this advantageous.
