Being a Doctor on board one of our Cunard or P&O Cruises ships means far more than treating sea sickness and sunburn. Our ships are similar to a small town or city, so working as a Doctor on one of our cruise ships is a one-of-a-kind experience. Our doctors are required to use their A&E or Critical Care experience to look after patients with all types of ailments, sicknesses, and health problems – from sun burn, broken bones, and family planning, to cardiac arrests.
This means that our Doctors need to be ready for anything! Using our fully-equipped medical centre, you are there to ensure critical emergencies are dealt with promptly and swiftly, combining the challenges of remote medicine with a varied caseload and real autonomy. Every day is different and every cruise offers a new experience.
To join us as a Ship Doctor, you must be a fully qualified doctor with current registration with the United Kingdom GMC or appropriate Governmental regulatory body, four years post qualified. Due to the nature of remote working, we ask that you have a minimum of six months recent experience within A&E and within a Critical Care Environment. We ask that our Doctors are competent experience in airway management (intubation and conscious sedation), management of common cardiac cases and the ability to lead a cardiac arrest team and are able to reduce common fractures / dislocations. Carnival UK ask that all employees are fully vaccinated against Covid 19, including a booster dose. As part of the application form, you will be asked if you are either currently fully vaccinated or partially vaccinated but willing to be fully vaccinated prior to joining our fleet. We currently accept Covid 19 vaccinations that are WHO Approved (World Health Organisation) either having a two dose vaccine plus 14 days or 1 single dose vaccine plus 14 days. We are unable to progress any applications from individuals who will not be fully vaccinated at this time and welcome future applications should your vaccination status change.
