An Electro-technical officer is responsible for the running and maintenance of the ship’s electro-technical equipment. That includes everything related to the electrical generating plant, electronic/automated control systems, bridge navigational equipment and entertainment systems. This is your chance to kick start your career in the international shipping industry. We are looking for candidates who have a passion for our industry and are keen to have the opportunity to combine industry experience while gaining a Foundation Degree or HND in Marine Electrical and Electronic Engineering.

We want to hear from you if you are excited about working as part of a team and have good communication skills. The environments you will be working in mean you will need to be someone who can stay calm under pressure and have the ability to work in a changing environment. You will need to be self driven and motivated to learn as you progress through your cadetship and your career with Carnival UK. We will be looking for you show a good knowledge of engineering and practical skills.
Before you apply please make sure you hold the following:
- GCSE (grades 4-9) or Scottish Standard level (1-2) or the equivalent in English, Maths, Physics or Combined Science and at least one other subject
- Candidates must be UK or EEA citizens and be a resident in the UK for at least one year immediately prior to application and have the right to live and work in the UK without restrictions
- An equivalent level of qualification in Electrical Engineering (e.g BTEC National Diploma or GNVQ Advanced ) will be considered
It is a requirement of employment that all of our seafarers must be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 from the 1st December 2021 (either 2 vaccines plus 14 days or 1 single dose vaccine plus 14 days). We will therefore require you to be double vaccinated or willing to be prior to embarking onboard one of our vessels for your sea phase
