The Role – IT Infrastructure Engineer
This is a key role working as part of our professional IT team to provide an effective and efficient IT Infrastructure support
As an IT Infrastructure Engineer, you will:
Management and upkeep of Chester Zoo’s IT infrastructure including servers, cloud services, networks, and security – documenting, monitoring and reviewing the workload of IT systems across the organisation’s IT estate, and ensuring any issues are addressed in a timely manner.
Deliver IT infrastructure projects on time and to budget and to the required quality, while adhering to IT and project management best practice. Work with IT Management to influence behavioural changes to implement successful infrastructure projects.
Support the user community by dealing with escalations from the IT support team, and by ensuring that any IT work requests are submitted through the relevant channels for appropriate prioritisation.
Support your line manager by providing subject matter expertise in support of IT infrastructure decisions, and deputising for them in their absence on IT infrastructure-related issues.
Identify gaps in your knowledge/skills and work with your line manager to address the gaps, mentor junior members of the team, and provide individual training and development within the wider IT team as needed.
Efficiently prioritise activities and monitoring so that service levels are met within agreed timescales and working hours. Ensure processes and procedures are always followed, that confidentiality is maintained, and that data protection and security policies are followed.

The Package
Permanent contract
40 hours per week, worked Monday-Friday between 8am-7pm, emergency on-call also provided.
33 days annual leave

Our Requirements – IT Infrastructure Engineer
Industry experience and a related degree and/or certifications in:
Networking and network security systems such as firewalls, NACs, and the principles of securing a network JOBS
Cloud technologies such as Office 365, Azure, Amazon AWS, and Google Cloud Services
Microsoft server technologies, VMWare, and Linux based systems.
Managing and maintaining SAN, NAS and other storage technologies.
Demonstrate experience of IT best practice methodologies.
Comfortable managing and maintaining infrastructure with a high level of complexity, and the documentation required to support that.
Working collaboratively with non-IT colleagues to ensure successful delivery of IT infrastructure projects.
Experience of managing and maintaining security solutions and situations.
Experience of working in compliance environments such as GDPR and PCI-DSS.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and an understanding of data protection
