We have an exciting opportunity for a qualified Social Worker to join our team based at Cygnet Hospital Kewstoke.

You will be working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide a social work service to service users and their families.  Working in partnership with service users, their families/carers, locality teams and agencies as appropriate, you will have responsibility for safeguarding, care planning, and risk assessments. The role involves developing therapeutic relationships with service users and offers the opportunity to train as a CBT / DBT therapist.

You will be someone who can work autonomously under pressure and to deadlines. You will be provided with on-going line management support and regular supervision. This is a challenging but highly rewarding role.

Cygnet Hospital Kewstoke delivers a comprehensive, recovery-focused pathway for males and females. The three female wards (Low Secure, Acute and Tier 4 Personality Disorder); one male ward (Psychiatric Intensive Care); and our locked rehabilitation unit for females provide an integrated care pathway for service users who are able to successfully move on to independent community living or a supported living service.

Ideal applicants will possess the following:

• Experience of working within a mental health or forensic setting
• Sound knowledge of the Mental Health Act 1983 (as amended 2007) and the relevant Codes of Practice
• Working knowledge of legislation relating to Safeguarding procedures, DOLS, and the Mental Capacity Act
• Excellent assessment and report writing skills
• Experience of supporting service users with housing and benefit issues
• Experience of multi-disciplinary team working in the provision of therapeutic / statutory interventions
• Good communication and time management skills, enabling effective working with other disciplines, in house and outside agencies/organisations

The position requires registration with the HCPC and is subject to an enhanced DBS.
