Job Description

SP Electricity North West manages and invests in the power network that supplies electricity to the 2.4m homes and businesses across the North West. Our 2,400 colleagues manage the 13,000km of overhead lines, 44,000km of underground cables and thousands of electricity substations to keep power flowing and supporting green growth. We’re one of six distribution network operators in the UK and are regulated by Ofgem.

We’re proud that in December 2024 we were named Utility of the Year by Utility Week magazine who said we punched above our weight and used innovation to solve some of the industry’s most difficult challenges. Come and be part of our team and make a difference.

Now part of the Iberdrola and ScottishPower group, we’re collectively building smarter, greener electricity networks that will get Britain growing by investing in a better future, quicker.

A Fantastic Opportunity: Project Organiser
As Project Organiser, you will be responsible for producing designs and associated network studies for electricity underground cable schemes, overhead lines and plant for our distribution LV. You will be responsible for ensuring all projects are designed and delivered in accordance with current Electricity Northwest licence conditions, policies, and safety standards.
You will be responsible for ensuring all required outputs are delivered to a high customer and client standard, monitoring schemes from design to delivery. You will work closely with Site Surveyors, DLO and Delivery Partners to ensure that all work is delivered safely and within the allocated budget.

You will be responsible for assessing the technical requirements of each project and delivering appropriate solutions in line with relevant Codes of Practice and policies, completing network studies where required. The role involves producing high quality network work instruction drawings to guide DLO teams and delivery partners, while controlling and monitoring outputs across DLO and contractor labour throughout the project lifecycle. You will manage relationships with third party contractors to ensure value for money and high quality delivery, overseeing projects through to completion with a strong focus on customer service and regular on site communication. Works must be planned and delivered safely and compliantly, in line with HSG47 and NRSWA, while maintaining ENW health and safety standards to ensure a safe environment for colleagues and customers. You will proactively engage with customers, respond quickly to queries, identify and mitigate project risks that could cause delay, additional cost or disruption, and maintain a visible on site presence to oversee safety and compliance. The role also requires capturing and reporting all project costs to the Finance and Programme Managers, driving productivity through effective resource utilisation and cost control, and ensuring all activities, agreements and works are accurately recorded on relevant IT systems.

The successful candidate must, at the start of employment have permission to work in the UK without sponsorship.
