We have a fantastic opportunity for a DSO Stakeholder and Communications Officer to join our Distribution System Operation (DSO) team who are responsible for getting our business ready for net zero.

The purpose of the Distribution System Operation (DSO) Stakeholder and Communications Officer role is to support the DSO Stakeholder and Communications Manager to develop and execute communications activity and stakeholder engagement in line with the needs and strategy of the DSO. In collaboration with the wider DSO team and SP Electricity North West (SP ENW) colleagues, this role will be expected to plan, coordinate and deliver informative, educational and engaging communications to ensure stakeholders feel heard, represented and understand the journey of the DSO. This will include the creation of publications, the coordination and delivery of events, and execution of multi-channel communications.

The role’s focus will be on enhancing our stakeholders’ understanding and experience, improving awareness and the reputation of the DSO, and increasing our stakeholder satisfaction.

As a result of expansion in this key area, we’re seeking a communications all-rounder who has experience of and working knowledge of utilising both internal and external communications channels, developing and implementing plans, managing events and supporting with in-person and online meetings as required.

The DSO Stakeholder and Communications Officer will be able to juggle multiple responsibilities, deliver communication campaigns that provide stakeholders with a positive experience and explain complex technical concepts in clear, concise and engaging ways.

Feedback and insights will be used to drive business change and value and the successful candidate will be self-motivated, keen to learn and take pride in delivering high quality stakeholder engagement and communications.


The successful candidate must, at the start of employment have permission to work in the UK without sponsorship.


What we’re looking for

• Capability to manage large workloads to tight deadlines, often under pressure
• Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to create clear, engaging and informative content in a multi-channel approach
• Knowledge and experience in event planning, including presentation creation, organising the day(s), and post-event activities, including communications and marketing
• Knowledge of internal and external communications channels, including marketing and PR
• Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, both internally and externally
• The ability to work independently and manage multiple projects and competing priorities
• High standards for quality and attention to detail
• An organised, proactive and collaborative approach to delivery and problem-solving
• Proficient in online meeting and webinar delivery including engagement techniques such as polling and chat room management
