Our people

It’s our 2,000 colleagues who make Electricity North West a great place to work. Every colleague is critical to our success, which is why we continually invest in training and development to build great careers for our people.

We’re dedicated about attracting great people and having a team which reflects the diverse communities we serve. We are passionate about diversity and inclusion at Electricity North West and strive to create an environment where every colleague can be themselves. We are really excited to be launching our corporate diversity and inclusion strategy this year.

Our purpose and principles

Our purpose and principles are fundamental to how we work and ensure that we take a responsible approach to everything we do, including how we treat our people and partners, our environment and our communities.

Our people strategy

Our people strategy is simple. We want to attract great people, develop and invest in them, then retain them by creating a great place to work where their skills and knowledge make a difference.

Our Community Responsibility

We have developed a responsibility framework known as ‘Transforming our Communities’, which ensures that our purpose lies at the heart of everything we do. The framework outlines our commitment to be a responsible employer and to have a positive impact on the environment and the communities we serve.
People -  It’s the pride, passion and commitment of our people and partners that help us to transform our communities on a day-to-day basis. We are committed to ensuring that we maintain a responsible approach to their safety and welfare, recruiting and retaining people who accurately represent the communities we serve and supporting their health and wellbeing.

Environment – As well as reducing our own business carbon footprint it’s our responsibility to influence and challenge the behaviour of our people and customers, so that we can all play our part in delivering a more sustainable future. We also recognise the role that our business can play in waste reduction and are committed to supporting biodiversity and ecosystems.

Our communities – We are committed to putting in place systems and partnerships which support our more vulnerable customers, particularly during power cuts. Our approach to colleague volunteering and fundraising ensures that we support charitable organisations close to the hearts of our colleagues and communities. This part of the framework also includes our education programme through which we aim to inspire the next generation of engineers.
