Our Control Hub manages the flow of electricity on the network across the North West, 24/7 365 days a year. We take pride in what we do, how we manage our network and drive to take charge and shape the future, to help keep electricity flowing to our five million customers every day.  

We have a fantastic opportunity for four Hub Technicians to join the team in our office in Manchester City Centre.

Our Role

As a Hub Technician you will play an important role in managing the fault response for the business, updating real time systems from our Control Centre so we have the right people in the right place at the right time.
It’s a very exciting time to be a part of our journey as we begin to advance our Low Voltage (LV), using cutting edge technology in real time to keep the power on across the North West.

No day will be the same as you respond to faults, learn how we manage the network, interact with different field teams and business areas and deliver first class customer service.

You'll help us be smarter in how we manage our network, work alongside a high performing team in taking the LV fault management into an exciting future, integrating new technologies and proactively presenting any new ideas to improve the way we work.  

Working 37hrs per week on a six weekly shift pattern, Monday to Sunday and in additional to your base salary you will also receive 40% shift allowance.

Week shifts: 7am – 2pm & 2pm – 9pm and weekend shifts 7am – 7pm

What Are We Looking For

  • Have a minimum qualification of an BTEC Level 3 / ONC or equivalent in Electrical and Electronic Engineering or would be willing to study towards a qualification;
  • Good knowledge of office-based software (Excel, Outlook, Word etc.
  • Excellent communication skills and delivering first class customer service
  • Be self driven and excited to work in a fast paced environment;
  • Be flexible and adaptable to support the work we do;
  • Excellent communication skills to build great working relationships in the business,
  • Working in a high performing team

Optional Additional Experience 

  • Understanding of Low Voltage networks;
  • Experience with electrical engineering design;
  • Understanding of faults in an operational / utility sector.
