The Patient Safety and Quality Division are looking for a talented and skilful Infection Prevention and Control Specialist Nurse to join their team.

The Infection Prevention & Control (IPC) Team provides advice and support to patients and colleagues in the Isle of Man Hospital’s, Community Health Services, Mental Health Services and Care Homes. Our aim is to minimise preventable Health Care Associated Infection (HCAI) and we are proud to currently have a zero MRSA bloodstream infection rate.

We are looking for an experienced Infection Prevention Specialist Nurse at Band 7, or a Band 6 Registered Nurse who would be willing to undertake a programme of development in the speciality. 

The successful applicant will have good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with colleagues at all levels within the DHSC. You will be organised, motivated, and enthusiastic with good leadership skills. 

The main responsibility for the post holder is the day to day case management of patients and to work closely with patients and colleagues in preventing health care-associated infection. You should be able to work on your own initiative as well as within a team structure, organising and prioritising your workload in a busy environment.

You will be required to be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council and have at least 2 years’ experience as an Infection Prevention and Control Nurse (for Band 7 role) or have a proven interest in Infection Prevention & Control and be willing to undertake training (for Band 6 role).

Please note a police check is required for this post. A full valid driving licence and access to your own vehicle is also required for this post.

A uniform will be provided to the successful candidate.
