Due to the success of the output from our Customer Insight team we have an amazing opportunity for 3 x Data Scientists to join one of the most successful departments within the Marketing division here at N Brown. These opportunities will be spanning developing analytical solutions to help improve the trading performance and efficiency of Scorecard and Segmentation systems, utilising a variety of statistical techniques from modellingmachine learning, and data mining to make predictions about future customer behaviour. Our other Data Scientist opportunity will be to develop analytical solutions to help improve the digital estate and marketing via a variety of statistical techniques from modellingmachine learningdata mining to make optimisations, recommendations and personalisations.

 

What a Data Scientist will be responsible for:

  • Applying expertise in data preparation, statistics, and machine learning to investigate complex problems in various domains, such as segmentation, modelling, marketing optimisation or personalisation
  • Contribute to the research for assessment, introduction and rollout of tools and technology platforms for analytics, automation, insights and visualisation
  • Project management for reviewing, redeveloping and implementing propensity models and segmentation systems
  • Contribute to the research for assessment, introduction and rollout of tools and technology platforms for analytics, automation, insights and visualisation
  • Utilising a constantly evolving range of data sources and tools, extract knowledge and insight to help the business meet its goals and improve its performance.
  • Lead the adoption of new data based solutions and technology cross functionally into business processes
  • Lead and manage induction/training programmes for analysts and business users.
  • Empower and partner with key decision makers to ensure timely, comprehensive and insightful information that has business impact.
  • To prioritise business problems that have the most value to the organisation
  • Training and informing individuals external to Customer Insight with the correct use of scorecard and segmentation.

 

What you’ll need to succeed:

 

For our Data Scientists we’re looking for those with a passion for what they do, pride in the brand they work for and the drive to shake up the analytical landscape. Whilst the below criteria is an outline of the skills we think will make you great in the the role – if you feel your experience and attitude match what we’re looking for then we’d love to hear from you:

 

  • STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) qualification and background or alternatively a discipline in Operational Research is advantageous
  • Proven knowledge of statistical modelling techniques such as logistical regression, cluster analysis, propensity modelling
  • Practical experience of using digital data in model such as experience of optimising digital channels e.g. paid search.
  • A passion for data and the ability to tell and sell the story with clear actions and make recommendations to support predictive analytics.
  • A logical and curious thinker who is able to analyse, interpret and provide compelling insight.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Experience of, or demonstrable understanding of  SAS, SQL or other database interrogation language.
  • Knowledge of statistical modelling techniques such as logistical regression, cluster analysis, propensity modelling is essential.
  • An open-minded, inquisitive, flexible individual, who displays a positive attitude towards new challenges, a willingness to learn and a passion to embrace new technologies and business change.
  • Strong problem solving skills are essential, along with an ability to manage a varied workload, to tight deadlines.
