N Brown is ambitious, brave and passionate about our customers and as such we are looking for likeminded engaging and future focused leaders who can drive change and challenge thinking whilst leading and inspiring our Merchandise teams.

We’re a rapidly changing ecommerce retailer and our power brands Simply Be, Jacamo and JD Williams serve an international customer base, leading the way in home shopping. We are all about making ‘fashion that fits’ available to all and are size and age inclusive, focusing on the needs of underserved customer groups.

We are now looking for experienced Merchandise professionals to work with our new Merchandise Director, Simon Johnson. Simon is personable, engaging and down-to-earth and is a firm believer in working at pace within a fast-changing online retail world.  N Brown is an organisation striving for success and we aim to build on good foundations to develop a modern merchandising, trading and planning team.  Your role, as one of the Merchandising senior team, will include strategic business planning and developing our global trading capability alongside merchandising and planning.

What you’ll do:

  • Strategy.  Alongside your Buying and Marketing colleagues, you’ll deliver a strategic category plan to realise your category’s business growth ambitions.
  • Planning.  You’ll create a challenging but realistic budget and activity plan for your category – including sales, stock, intake, margin and clearance.
  • Range planning.  With your Buying colleagues, you’ll build a credible product range that delivers customer and financial objectives.
  • Delivery. You’ll plan and deliver the critical merchandising activities that support the calendar of product launches and trading activity.
  • Trading. Using performance data, you’ll anticipate and react to trading opportunities, shape the in-season trading plan & deliver commercial outcomes of profitability, service and stock quality.
  • Team. You’ll lead, develop and inspire your team to ensure that our customers’ expectations and the business and brand objectives are exceeded.
  • Business Improvement.  You’ll own and promote new AI technology, WSSI and range planning tools with your Merchandising team to optimise availability, service and stock levels.
  • Budgeting and performance management. You’ll manage and deliver category product performance and operational budgets.

What you’ll need to succeed in this role:

  • Extensive experience of leading & engaging a sizeable team in a fast-paced, change-driven environment
  • In depth experience of working in a merchandise environment in a predominantly digital retailer
  • Broad experience of managing complex plans that require high levels of influencing or negotiation
  • In-depth commercial and retail understanding with the influence to make change happen
  • A passion for customer based on sound analysis & insight
  • A strong understanding of the levers that deliver availability, service, stock quality and profitable growth.
  • You’ll be a pioneer who has led teams through transformational change in a digital business, creating new ways of working, reshaping the skills and capabilities of your team and the wider business.

In return you will get the opportunity to work amongst a welcoming and driven team in a fast paced, growing online retail business in heart of Manchester’s fantastic Northern Quarter.

If you genuinely love digital retail and would be keen to join a truly customer-led business that ranks amongst the UK’s best in Customer Service, this could be a match made in heaven!
