Our Assistant Merchandisers are much more than just number crunchers. They play an integral role in helping to deliver the product strategy through assisting with careful planning, forecasting and inventory management, and by ensuring the right stock is in the right place at the right time, so our customer can buy what they want, when they want it.

This role is a great in roads to a career within a Fashion retail business and within Merchandising. You don't need any previous experince within Merchandising - we are purely looking for someone with strong administration skills, with a passion and desire to develop and succeed. 


Reporting to the Stock Disposal Merchandiser you will be responsible for supporting the implementation of the stock disposal strategy, as defined by The Head of Function, to reduce last & previous season stock values in line with the margin & realisation targets. 

You will also work in conjunction with the Stock Disposal Merchandiser and Marketing Team to provide support in trading the range plan, maximising commercial opportunities through effective management of inventory, driving demand and profit.


What you’ll be responsible for:

  • Managing the stock file (to identify trading opportunities or issues), whilst ensuring that stock is in the right place at the right time.
  • Providing analytical support to the Stock Disposal Merchandiser, reviewing daily/weekly and seasonal trading performance and promotional activity across all channels and Brands.
  •  Delivering against key metrics of sales, % margin and cash profit.
  • Using Business Objects (Internal System) to produce department reporting.
  • Awareness of print marketing schedule and responsibility of building discount leaflets, working to an agreed margin target and product brief, ensuring that stock levels are adequate prior to sign off.
  • Use of product and price uploader (internal system), ensuring accurate prices and adequate product levels across all websites.
  • To support the Stock Disposal Merchandiser in working effectively with External Customers, to ensure realisation is maximised throughout all external channels.
  • To be the main point of contact to deal with customer queries, ensuring customer satisfaction.


What you will need to succeed:


  • A degree level qualification or equivalent in a numerical or analytical discipline, e.g., Psychology, Economics, Maths, Business Studies etc. is desirable but not essential.
  • Experience working in a head office merchandising role (Merchandising Admin Assistant, Allocator etc.) would be advantageous but is not essential.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills and confidence working with large volumes of data; collating, analysing, presenting findings.
  • A genuine interest in retail and trading and with previous retail experience.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel (proficiency in Vlookups, SUM, Pivot tables would be an advantage).
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Enthusiasm and determination. This role is fast-paced and the successful candidate must be able to demonstrate initiative and the desire to succeed in their role.
