We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced, innovative and customer centric People Lead to join us in our newly formed shared service.  You will provide a high quality ‘People’ service to line managers, working collaboratively to support them in delivery of their people plan and ensuring people are managed in line with our people value proposition.

In this role you will build robust relationships with our managers across Head Office (Manchester City Centre) and Operations (Shaw and Hadfield) by supporting them through all aspects of their team members’ lifecycle. The role will play a significant part in supporting the People Team in delivering the People Value Proposition through management behaviors and HR interventions.

To be successful in this role, you must understand the business priorities and be able to translate them into the work that drives those priorities. You'll need to demonstrate very strong employee relations capabilities, specifically TUPE, be able to support business leaders with data-driven recommendations to improve performance, retention and the employee experience. Our People Leads must also enjoy working independently as well as part of a team, taking a hands-on approach, and will need excellent communication and professional interpersonal skills to interface effectively with colleagues, union representatives and business leaders at all levels.

Day to day duties will be to:

  • Regularly meet with Line Managers to discuss, review and manage people risks and issues including performance, absence, development, employee relations, reward and resource plans; identifying and offering solutions that are commercial, consistent fair and meet our regulatory requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement and development of People processes and policies. Keep updated on existing and new initiatives and employment legislation; communicating best practice and legally compliant advice and guidance. Work collaboratively with peers to share ideas and learning whilst ensure a consistent approach is also applied.
  • Coach and influence Line Managers developing their people management and leadership skills. Recognise positive behaviours and actions, constructively challenge when those standards are not demonstrated.
  • Coach, embed, review discuss and proactively manage organisational change and people issues and encourage the pursuit of excellent performance and standards at all levels.
  • Manage and take responsibility for individual Maternity and LTS cases from start to end, providing necessary support and encouraging an RTW structure.
  • Work collaboratively with the Talent team to design and deliver People related training workshops for Line Managers.  Coach and mentor newly appointed Line Managers and identify training needs.

What you will need to succeed:

  • CIPD qualified Level 5
  • Extensive Employee Relations experience.
  • Flexibility to travel
  • Self-driven and confident, interested in own self development and that of others.
  • Organised and planned in approach.
  • Understanding of good people practice across the employee proposition.
  • Coaching and facilitation skills.
  • Knowledge of organisational design.
  • Understanding of employment law
  • Ability to communicate and influence at all levels via a variety of media.
  • Develop informal working relationships at all levels.
