As a Junior Platform Engineer you will be receive on the job training which will help you develop the skills required to become an expert on cloud platform technologies.  Technology changes on a daily basis so why not be a part of a team that wants to embrace that change and progress your career in cloud technologies.

What will you be doing on a daily basis as Junior Platform Engineer:

  • Assist in developing platforms in an agile manner.
  • Configure cloud platforms using configuration tools which automate the deployment.
  • To assist in building and maintaining a code base for the following infrastructure as code configuration tools e.g. Terraform, Puppet, Chef, Jenkins, Bamboo and Ansible to manage and maintain infrastructure.
  • To ensure via Infrastructure as Code configuration tools that the platforms maintain best practices and align with JDW security policies.
  • To provide second line technical support on call out of hours, weekend and holidays for cloud solutions.
  • To identify, suggest, and implement improvements to the infrastructure as code process in conjunction with delivery teams, adopting the ability to change fast.

What you will need to succeed:

  • Experience in infrastructure administration, preferably in the technologies of the JDW digital solution or similar
  • Degree is desirable but not essential
  • A basic understanding of AWS cloud-based infrastructure such as EC2, VPCs, Subnets, Elastic Load Balancers, Security Groups, S3, Route 53, NAT, Kinesis, and the many other services that AWS provides.
  • A basic knowledge of networking, TCP/IP, DNS, routing so you able to configure a platform with guidance within the cloud technologies securely.
  • To have a basic understanding of underlying web technology such as Apache, Jetty, IIS, and to ensure services run securely via SSL/TLS.
  • Able to work with GIT repositories, able to pull/merge changes and have an understanding of branching/tagging.
  • To appreciate the many operating systems available for example Ubuntu, Debian, Redhat, Windows and able to move between the operating system and reflect the difference in the Operating System in the Infrastructure as Code configuration tools.
