N Brown PLC has a new Data Division focussed on exploiting the Data Science capability for the group and we are on the lookout for a Lead Strategy Analyst. You will be seasoned Analytics pro who will help to elevate our Data Science capability by identifying strategic data-driven opportunity and collaborating closely with Data Scientists on specified end-to-end projects. We are building a world class team and infrastructure and the role of Lead Strategy Analyst is a key requirement for success.

Your role

  • Lead the identification of opportunities where advanced analytics can make a difference
  • Make a significant contribution in helping N Brown drive profitable growth by providing insight and recommendations
  • Key contributor to Data Science projects that help the business meet its goals and improve its performance, ultimately extracting knowledge and insight utilising a constantly evolving range of data sources and tools
  • Establish strong relationships with all stakeholders and ensure work is prioritised in line with what the business needs and the opportunities it faces
  • Apply expertise in data preparation and statistics as well as machine learning to investigate complex problems in various domains, such as optimisation or personalisation
  • Prioritise business problems that have the most value to the organization
  • Collaborate closely with Data Scientists in the delivery of projects and Analytics Translators from an implementation and project initiation perspective
  • Generate energy, pride and momentum in the team to raise our game to world class, with the team acting as an internal consultancy
  • Any other duties required by the line manager that are appropriate with the post, grade and level of responsibility of this role, for which the role holder has the necessary experience and/or training

What you need to succeed

  • Academically strong you’re likely to have a degree, MSc or PHD in natural sciences, psychology, physics, mathematics or statistics
  • Proven track record in a senior analytical role, ideally with experience in a role assisting in digital retail environment. Previous experience in a Data Science orientated-role
  • Ability to think outside the box and challenge existing processes and practices
  • Ability to harness “big data” / large data sets
  • SQL / SAS / R / Python or any other programming experience
  • Excellent communication skills with an ability to convey and visualise analysis / insight clearly
  • An open-minded, flexible and positive attitude toward new challenges, with a willingness to embrace new technologies and business change
  • Problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to break down complex opportunities and present a simple sequence of decisions
  • A great understanding of the techniques and technologies of Data Science, along with a fairly detailed understanding of the challenges associated with each (e.g. overfitting, model refresh, challenge of acquiring training data, cost of compute, etc.)
  • Collaborate with other disciplines in bringing together executable plans with an ability to work across the business with multiple stakeholders
  • Motivated by delivering results in a fast-paced digital and transformational organisation with the ability to lead and create change in a challenging environment
