N Brown PLC has a new Data Division focussed on exploiting the Data Science capability for the group and we are on the lookout for a Senior Analytical Translator. You will be a collaborative leader who will help to elevate our Data Science capability by acting as the bridge between Analytics and the business.

We are building a world class team and infrastructure and the role of Analytics Translator is a key requirement for success through understanding opportunity, translating hypotheses into requirements, delivering compelling storytelling through the lens of Data Science and (crucially) implementation.

Your role

  • Lead the identification of opportunities where advanced analytics can make a difference
  • Facilitate the process of prioritising these opportunities
  • Frequently serve as project manager on the projects ensuring progress is being made
  • Actively champion adoption of the solutions across the business and promote cost effective scaling
  • In other words, translate business problems into Data Science projects and lead in quantifying the various types of risk and rewards that allow these projects to be prioritised
  • Conversely, taking the outputs of Data Science and crystallising them into scalable opportunity through compelling communication (verbal and written) and visualisation
  • A key role in implementation of outputs
  • Generate energy, pride and momentum in the team to raise our game to world class, with the team acting as an internal consultancy
  • Any other duties required by the line manager that are appropriate with the post, grade and level of responsibility of this role, for which the role holder has the necessary experience and/or training.

What you need to succeed:

 

  • A natural eye and flair for storytelling to leadership. Anticipating and identifying opportunities and developing strategic insights 
  • Ability to break down complex opportunities and present a simple sequence of decisions
  • Previous experience in a Data Science orientated-role
  • An understanding of the techniques and technologies of Data Science, along with a fairly detailed understanding of the challenges associated with each (e.g. overfitting, model refresh, challenge of acquiring training data, cost of compute, etc.)
  • Broad project experience over many project types, including those outside of retail
  • Collaborate with other disciplines in bringing together executable plans with an ability to work across the business with multiple stakeholders
  • Motivated by delivering results in a fast-paced digital and transformational organisation with the ability to lead and create change in a challenging environment
  • Experience of executing strategy and cultural practices in related or similar environments
  • Strong commercial understanding and business acumen
