To join us on this journey as we grow,  we are looking for a number of talented Java Developers for our Technology team. These roles play a key role in delivering unbeatable digital experiences to our customers and ensuring that we not only reach our goals in the web development space but as a wider engineering practice, at a healthy pace. You’ll be a part of a squad of motivated Java Developers developing our commercial websites and supporting software using modern development standards, technologies and techniques. 

What we're looking for:

  • Passion for well designed, testable and efficient code using modern design patterns and quality development principles
  • Experience in developing high quality, scalable and secure Java apps
  • Solid understanding of the full software development cycle
  • At least one popular web framework (Spring MVC, Servlets)
  • Experience with Javascript and Front-End Development
  • Experience with Unit Testing
  • An ability to not only follow, but collaboratively set development standards
  • Proactive identification of issues and barriers and escalating or resolving appropriately
  • Passion for user experience
  • Knowledge of Relational Databases, SQL and ORM technologies (e.g. Hibernate)
  • Experience working in or a good understanding of development in an agile environment
  • Ability to remove obstacles and keep the team motivated to bring their best selves to work everyday
  • Someone who can keep it real, both from a people and technology perspective; you’ll respect and appreciate legacy systems and processes, seeing it as an opportunity for change, not a challenge

Nice to have (though not essential):

  • Experience with Kanban development methodology and associated processes and tools.
  • Experience with Continuous Integration and Deployment (CI/CD).
  • Experience with Git/Mercurial Version Control.
  • Experience with Maven/Gradle
  • Experience with working with Web and Cloud technologies.
  • Experience with e-commerce or content management systems
  • Exposure to Hybris, Tomcat or SOLR
