The Merchandise Analyst plays a key role in producing initial departments budgets based upon our top line company forecast and revised forecasts down to product level to inform both planning and trading decisions. The ideal candidate will be highly analytical, with excellent Excel skills and ideally come from a merchandising or data analyst background.

This role involves working cross-functionally with a number of different departments and with stakeholders of all levels, so excellent communication skills are essential.
 

What you’ll be responsible for:

  • Producing initial department budgets by product offer for given departments based on company forecast.
  • Reforecasting budgets on a weekly basis based on actual demand.
  • Producing and maintaining budget plans vs. actual MI. Highlighting any areas of concern making appropriate recommendations.
  • Develop MI reports to support forecasts and ensure all relevant stakeholders have access to correct performance data and statistics.
  • Working closely with the Merchandising function to ensure their product forecasts accurately assist the department.
  • Providing detailed sales analysis to the Head of Merchandising and Merchandising Operations Forecasting Manger for weekly trading meetings and reviews.
  • Acting as liaison between various departments in the business and understanding the needs of all stakeholders.
     

What you will need to succeed:

  • Ideally educated to degree level or equivalent in a numerical or analytical field such as Maths, Economics or Business.  A high standard of numerical ability is essential – Maths at A-Level or above would be an advantage.
  • Demonstrable work experience either as a Data Analyst or within a retail head office merchandising environment.
  • High level of computer literacy including advanced Excel skills (Vlookups, Pivot Tables essential). Knowledge of SQL is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work closely with stakeholders of all levels.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
