Covering our impressive Global Head Office and Logistic sites, the Head of Workplace and Engineering will be the key driver in leading the operational strategies across the N Brown facilities, workplace and engineering as well as implementing and ensuring a safe, fully functioning and attractive workplace for all N Brown employees and 3rd party suppliers.  As our Head of Workplace and Engineering, you will be responsible for motivating and developing a multi-disciplined workforce  existing of experienced professional engineers, facilities managers and facilities operatives, which is why we’re looking for a driven and experienced Head of Facilities who understands what great looks like and knows how to achieve this.

Experience within facilities management/ engineering management/ business management is a must as you will be the subject matter expert overseeing multiple facets with a particular focus on legislation, regulation & compliance. Working closely with the Director of Supply Chain, you will implement a progressive workforce culture, build great alliances with key stakeholders in the business and maintain up to date knowledge of H&S legislation

What else you’ll be doing as our Head of Workplace and Engineering:  

  • Workplace management – Lead the management of the workplace solutions which supports the delivery of colleague environment across N Brown as well as operational delivery of the wider facilities management team
  • 3rd Party Suppliers - Develop strategic partnerships with 3rd party suppliers and provide professional advice in relation to all property matters both national and international. 
  • Maintenance – Develop and maintain key supplier partnerships for the maintenance, upgrading and installation of all new engineering equipment used across the sites
  • Budget Management - Managing all aspects of capital expenditure for engineering projects, maintaining a strong focus on value for money
  • Networking - Building out a network of contractors, suppliers and retailers to provide insight and knowledge to the overall engineering needs of the company
  • Service Support - Providing 24/7 engineering cover through the management team ensuring any operational issues and planned activity works alongside the operational team and their requirements
  • Planet and Environment - Developing and implementing the Group’s strategy against N Brown’s CSR charter, inc Carbon targets, statutory reporting and compliance (CRC, ESOS, EPC and CDP/FDP) and reduction activity.
  • Security and Loss Prevention - Ensuring the security of all N Brown Group sites and physical assets in line with company policies.
  • Health and Safety – Ensuring the implementation of Health and Safety across all sites to the highest standard.

What we need from you:

  • Degree (or equivalent) within FM/Engineering discipline; whilst an HNC in a business-related subject would be great it’s not essential for this role
  • This role will be supporting an impressive customer base from the N Brown Executive Board to our cleaners so excellent communication skills are needed to ensure all our customers are delivered the same quality service
  • Extensive experience within a similar role is a must
  • Strong demonstrable Project Management experience
  • Experience of managing £9m+ budgets 
  • Strong Health and Safety experience/competency is essential to fully understand, comprehend and advise all safety matters
  • Experience of successfully leading, developing and motivating a high performing team
  • Successful management of an extensive 3rd party supplier portfolio and managing large teams and/or contractors over multiple sites
  • The ideal candidate will be a proactive and collaborative team player, who enjoys working with people from across all levels within N Brown.
