Reporting into our Head’s of Engineering, we are looking for future-thinking Scrum Masters to come with us on this huge digital transformation…

We are in an exciting phase of change; along with the rest of the world, we’re embarking on a hugely impactful digital journey, both for our people and our customers. What’s great is that this position plays a key role in ensuring that the squads not only reach their delivery goals but we grow our wider engineering practice, at a healthy pace. You’ll ensure that the squad or team maintain a balance between building things the right way, and building things fast enough; you act as a guardian of the team

 

What you’ll be doing:

  • Facilitate key agile ceremonies, guiding the team on how best to use Agile and effective working practices and values to deliver business benefit
  • Assessing the agile maturity of the team and organisation and coaching the team to higher levels of maturity, at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable for the team and organization
  • Removing impediments or guiding the team to remove impediments by finding the right personnel to remove the impediment. 
  • Building a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or being judged, with an emphasis of healing and problem solving.
  • Facilitating getting the work done without coercion, assigning, or dictating the work and facilitating discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution
  • Measure the flow of work though the team, working improve velocity and reduce dwell time
  • Supporting and educating the Product Owner, especially with respect to grooming and maintaining the product backlog.
  • Providing all support to the team using a servant leadership style whenever possible, and leading by example

What we’re looking for:  

  • Experience playing the Scrum Master role in a software development team, diligently applying Scrum principles, practices, and theory.
  • Good skills and knowledge of servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency with excellent communication and mentoring skills
  • Experience applying a wide variety of numerous well documented patterns and techniques for filling in the intentional gaps left in the Scrum approach (example: numerous Burndown techniques, numerous Retrospective formats, handling bugs, etc.)
  • Knowledge of other Agile approaches: XP, Kanban, Crystal, FDD, etc
  • Knowledge and/or experience with widely successful Agile techniques: User Stories, Test Driven Development, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, Pairing, Automated Testing, Agile Games
  • Ability to remove obstacles and keep the team motivated to bring their best selves to work everyday
  • Someone who can keep it real, both from a people and technology perspective; you’ll respect and appreciate legacy systems and processes, seeing it as an opportunity for change, not a challenge
