Data is at the heart of what we do and has been identified as a fundamental pillar to our strategy for future growth. Building on our heritage as a data-driven company a new Data Division has been created to exploit the Data Science capability for the group. We’re building a world class team and infrastructure and are looking to expand with two Data Scientists to help us succeed.

You’ll be helping to exploit the data we have from billions of page views and terabytes of data to understand, improve and personalise complex customer journeys. You’ll be developing advanced machine learning models including ensemble models, clustering, neural networks, image recognition and natural language processing to drive business success on projects spanning our organisation.

What a Data Scientist will be responsible for:

  • Applying expertise in data wrangling, statistics, and machine learning to solve complex business problems in various domains.
  • Utilising a constantly evolving range of data sources and tools, extracting knowledge and insight to help the business meet its goals and improve its performance.
  • Developing new internal and customer facing data-driven products and supporting the rollout and adoption of these products cross-functionally.
  • Contributing to the assessment, introduction and rollout of tools and technology platforms across the business.

  • STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) qualification and background or alternatively a discipline in Operational Research.
  • Proven knowledge and application of key machine learning algorithms.
  • Experience of or demonstrable understanding of Python or R, and SQL or other database interrogation languages.
  • Experience of modelling in AWS advantageous.
  • Experience of GIT advantageous.
  • A passion for data and the ability to tell and sell the story with clear recommendations and actions that add value to our customers and business.
  • A logical and curious thinker who can analyse, interpret and provide compelling insight.
  • An open-minded, inquisitive, flexible individual, who displays a positive attitude towards new challenges, a willingness to learn and a passion to embrace new technologies and business change.
  • Strong problem-solving skills are essential, along with an ability to manage a varied workload, to tight deadlines.
