We have an opportunity for an analytically driven Forecasting Analyst to join our Commercial FP&A department here at N Brown. To provide accurate and timely estimates of future volumes, handle times and estimated resource requirements, so that target revenue and customer satisfaction are achieved at acceptable cost levels.

What you’ll be responsible for:

  • Understand relevant historical volume and variable data, identifying trends, seasonality and any appropriate relationships, ranging from discrete data to more volatile customer mailing activity;
  • Produce accurate forecasts of future workload volumes across a variety of timescales, using common processes, timescales and modelling approaches across all departments: Sales, Service, Support, Processing, Financial Services and International Operations;
  • Provide estimates of headcount requirement for future workload volumes to allow the business to achieve target revenue and customer satisfaction while still maintaining acceptable cost levels;
  • Regularly compare different forecasting techniques to minimise forecast error;
  • Maintain strong relationships with other parts of business, so that the causes of variation and model error are identified and minimised;
  • Understand from internal customers how forecasts and models can be more useful and relevant;
  • Ensure accurate forecasts are in place within WFM, calculate historical forecast error, understand causes of error and use learning points to minimise error going forward;
  • Produce analysis in support of regular budget process, assist with modelling for business cases and other analysis as required;
  • Support other team members with Forecasting and Resource Planning tasks when required; and
  • Further work commensurate with the role.

What you’ll need to succeed:

  • Previous experience within a similar role;
  • In-depth understanding of Microsoft Excel and proven ability to build and develop complex models;
  • Experience of extracting information using database queries;
  • Ability to explain complex concepts in comprehensible terms;
  • Meticulous attention to detail;
  • Undergraduate degree relevant to understanding, developing and building complex models;
  • Two years’ experience of forecasting and workload modelling; and
  • Understanding of different forecasting techniques such as exponential smoothing, propensity modelling, and regression-based explanative techniques.
