Data is at the heart of what we do and has been identified as a fundamental pillar to our strategy for future growth. Building on our heritage as a data-driven company, our new centralised Data Science and Analytics Team has been created to exploit the Data Science capability for the N Brown Group. We’re building a world class team and infrastructure and are looking for a Data Scientist to help us succeed.

You’ll be helping to exploit the data we have from billions of page views and terabytes of data to understand, improve and personalise complex customer journeys. You’ll be developing advanced machine learning models using Python in AWS including ensemble models, clustering, neural networks, image recognition and natural language processing to drive business success on projects spanning our organisation.

Your role as Data Scientist:

  • Applying expertise in data wrangling, statistics, and machine learning to solve complex business problems in various domains.
  • Utilising a constantly evolving range of data sources and tools, extracting knowledge and insight to help the business meet its goals and improve its performance.
  • Developing new internal and customer facing data-driven products and supporting the rollout and adoption of these products cross-functionally.
  • Contributing to the assessment, introduction and rollout of tools and technology platforms across the business.

What are we looking for?

  • STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) qualification and background.
  • Proven knowledge and application of key machine learning algorithms.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • A passion for data and the ability to story-tell.
  • A positive attitude towards new challenges, a willingness to teach and to learn and a passion to embrace new technologies and business change.
  • Motivated by pace, driven by curiosity, empowered by trust, and together for the customer.
  • Experience of or demonstrable understanding of Python and SQL.
  • Experience of or demonstrable understanding of modelling in AWS advantageous.
  • Experience of GIT advantageous.

Working here you’ll explore everything the world of digital retail has to offer — asking questions, trying new things and chasing new opportunities. Combine this curiosity with the freedom to make your own decisions, take charge of projects and work flexibly, and you’ve got the perfect place to show your skills and learn new ones.

It’s fast and furious here at times, but this just means something new and exciting is always on the way. So, if you collaborate, think on your feet, embrace innovation and love rising to a challenge, your work with us will have a serious impact on the business, your career and our customers’ lives.
