The primary function of this role is to lead the Workplace Team (Facilities) at our Head Office - Griffin House (Manchester). You will be accountable for maintaining and delivering a high-quality facilities management service at our Head Office and you’ll manage a number of group wide soft FM contracts for cleaning, catering, waste, post and security across our logistics and Head Office operations (Griffin House, Shaw & Hadfield sites).

This role is both strategic and operational and will require management of internal staff, external supply chain and extensive stakeholder management. The role is suited to a confident and diplomatic negotiator at all levels but must be driven to achieve results and challenge the norm.

You’ll be confident to lead teams through a journey of change and always deliver a high-level standard of service across the operations.

The ideal candidate must be able to plan works, but reactive to the ever-changing environment of Facilities Management.

This role reports to the Head of Facilities, Workplace and Engineering

 What you’ll be responsible for as our Workplace Facilities Manager:

  • Lead and develop the in-house facilities and visitor management staff.
  • Must be able to priorities workloads, work to tight deadlines, plan, organise and monitor several activities at the same time.
  • Full delivery of hard & soft services at Griffin House, and contract management of soft services across the Logistics Operations but not limited to other facilities related tasks when required (detailed below).
  • Work closely with multi-site Operations team and other members of the Workplace, Facilities & Engineering team to deliver a high-class service to the internal business at all times, seeks opportunities to improve services, reduce costs and improve efficiencies.
  • Management of energy contracts, ensuring constant value for money, timely reporting on performance and advising and implementing on energy efficiency and cost effectiveness of environmental financial saving projects.
  • Oversee the management of various CAFM systems and align into any Health & Safety compliance software.
  • Oversee relocation and churn management within Griffin House and ownership of space management, look and ways to improve agile working, space utilisation.


What you will need to succeed as a Workplace Facilities Manager:

  • Experience of Facilities Management, Contractor management, Building Management
  • Experience in a busy customer focussed environment
  • Experience of working to targets and deadlines
  • Must be able to work to budgets and tight timescales.
  • Involvement with budget creation and management
  • Driving licence to travel between sites on a regular basis
  • Ability to work out of hours when necessary.
